Rider Training Options.
Chichester’s Freedom Motorcycle Training offer riders a complete motorcycle training service in Chichester, Bognor Regis and right across West Sussex, Hampshire and Surrey. From 16 year olds looking to get on the road quickly with their CBT and ride a moped to DAS (Direct Access Scheme). We also offer advanced rider training and onto Instructor level training.
CBT, Compulsory Basic Training.
The CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) was first introduced in 1990 aiming to help improve road safety. Before you can legally ride on the road you need to be a provisional license holder and have passed your CBT. Your Compulsory basic training certificates will last for 2 years.
If you are aged 16 years you can ride up to a restricted 50 cc.
If you are aged 17 years and above you may ride up to and including a 125cc.
Our 125 Training course is available for you if you are 17 years or older. You can take your test on a 125 cc motorbike. This option will restrict the motorbikes you are allowed to ride to 14.6bhp (120cc-125cc).
Progressive Access A2 Licence.
When you turn 19 providing you have held your A1 licence for a minimum of two years you can take a practical test for a A2 licence. This will allow you to ride between 33bhp-46.6bhp (395cc)
Or at 19 you can do a CBT, Theory and practical test to hold the same licence.
From age 24 CBT (unless you hold an A1/A2 licence) Theory and practical test. This will entitle you to ride any bike.
