The Direct Access Scheme or DAS is for Bognor Regis and Chichester riders who hold a current DL196 certificate and have passed the motorcycle theory test. The Direct Access Scheme Test consists of two modules.
On your first lesson for your Direct Access Scheme you will do Motorcycle Maneuver Arena or MMA as we call it and here you will learn everything you need to do for your Module 1 test. This is a very easy part of the DAS and you will get to grips with it very quickly.
The module 1 test with specified manoeuvres conducted at specific speeds, the manoeuvres are;
- Manual handling
- Slalom and figure eight
- Slow ride (walking speed)
- U Turn
- Controlled stop at between 20/30mph
- Emergency Stop at 32pmh (50kph)
- Avoidance 32mph (50kph)
On the module 1 test, candidates will be asked by the examiner to demonstrate their riding ability on either a left or right hand circuit.
Module 2 of the test consists of the eyesight test, road safety question and at least 30 minutes of road riding. Covering a variety of road and traffic conditions this will also include normal stops, and hill and angle starts.
Make sure you bring some money for lunch as you are a biker now and you will be shown around round some of the biker cafes in the surrounding areas.
When you arrive for any sort of motorcycle training you need to make sure that you bring adequate protective clothing. Tough boots (not steel toe capped) jeans at least but ideally proper bike trousers and a good tough jacket.
We can provide some of this but don’t rely on it as it may not fit you.
